Sarah Payne

A driving force behind Sheepgate Equestrian, Sarah juggles family life with running Lincolnshire's popular competition centre near Boston in Lincolnshire. A former British pony team member, Sarah is a leading dressage rider, a British Dressage UKCC Level 3 Accredited Coach and BHSI qualified, as well as being a List 2A British Dressage judge.

Sarah's current horses always give her a reason to smile! Sheepgate Ushipower and Sheepgate Bommel need very little introduction.

Sheepgate Ushipower who made his PSG debut in the autumn of 2015 and Sheepgate Bommel who will return to the dressage arena in the spring of 2016 after a very quiet 2015 for one reason or another.

The Winter of 2014 saw this combination achieve a personal best after winning three Regional Championships in  order to qualify for The British Dressage National Winter Championships 2014 and gain three top ten placings which has been a career highlight.

Like mother, like daughter...following in Mum's footsteps, Lily Payne needs no introduction.

During the summer of 2014, Bommel continued his success with winning the Elementary Open Regionals and secured a very creditable 6th place in the British Dressage National Championships in September .

A  career highlight of qualifying four horses for The British Dressage National Winter Championships 2015 gave Sarah and Team Sheepgate every reason to celebrate.

Sheepgate Ushipower gained an impressive 6th place in The Advanced Medium Freestyle to Music Championship and were invited to compete at Royal Windsor in May 2015.

Sarah's attention to detail has always been evident and after the discovery of Pilates in January 2008 this has significantly broadened her horizons. Completing her Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Matwork Pilates in February 2012 was to be the start of a fascinating journey. Pilates with Sarah Payne was developed and now Sarah runs weekly classes offering a friendly, informal approach to Pilates for all levels.

Lily shows a real feel and maturity in her riding, pictured here, riding Penny Walster's stunning 6 year old mare Bathleyhills Sea Breeze

Sarah's fascination with how the rider's body influences the horse has always been a priority and on reading Lindsay Wilcox-Reid's book 'Pilates for Riders', learning more about Equipilates was an obvious step. Later in 2012 Sarah completed the Equipilates Registered Trainer Course and once again more doors were opened as the Equipilates studio classes became very popular.

Sarah is never one to settle into her comfort zone so she regularly challenges herself to leave the ground, pushing herself beyond where she is most at ease with the great support of her right hand woman, Alex Jewell.

2013 brought new challenges and for those of you who know Sarah well will know that she is always planning her next goal. Little did Sarah realise that she would in effect be going back to school with her anatomy books to take the Biomechanics Education Specialist Biomechanics Diploma. Sarah was delighted to gain this qualification early in 2014 and looks forward to being able to offer a full body screening of intrinsic biomechanics in the autumn.

September 2015 saw the latest of Sarah's career development with the completion of the UKCC level 3 to become an accredited Dressage Coach. Sarah's passion for helping riders gain the most from their horse or pony is evident in every session she offers so this was an obvious step.

Sarah's page wouldn't be complete without a mention of her favourite tipple! Cheers!
