Designer and saddle fitter Rene De Koning of EquineFit, who has been holding regular clinics at Sheepgate for the past year, will be presenting a bespoke saddle (retail value £1,200) plus a made-to-measure bridle (retail value £200??) to two lucky riders at the final of the Unaffiliated Summer Dressage Series on Sunday 11 September 2005. “We have been working closely with Rene for the past year and have been so impressed by his wealth of knowledge and expertise, as well as his attention to detail, especially when it comes to fitting horses with less than perfect conformation,” says Sheepgate’s resident trainer and List 2 judge Sarah Payne. “Correct saddlefitting makes all the difference – not only to the comfort of the rider, but also the performance and wellbeing of the horse. “Since buying saddles from EquineFit, my horses have never performed better. “Rene has opened our eyes to the complex world of saddle manufacturing and we are delighted to have him on board as part of the Sheepgate team.” Rene De Koning, has spent the past 15 years as a trainer in Holland and now travels worldwide, including Germany, Belgium, Brazil and USA, helping horses and riders achieve ultimate comfort through correct flocking and adjustments, which are carefully fine tuned to each individual.
