March 1st – 31st
Spring is in the air...
Has spring finally sprung? One minute it has, the next minute winter has returned, the weather has been bizarre to say the least. The ponies are shedding their coats and I enjoy a bit of therapy while attacking them with a rubber curry comb and grooming block and watching the masses of hair fall to the floor and suddenly you see a pony that is half the size having hidden under all of that winter coat.

Wild Card
Still buzzing from the recent trip to Myerscough Winter Regional’s with the boys, they were rewarded with a slightly easier time to recover; meanwhile my body was glad of the occasional day off when all of a sudden things change with the arrival of a wild card for Bommel in the Novice Open. He only missed out by 5 marks on the day so to be rewarded with a wild card was great. This calls for a drastic change of plans and I need to find a show to go to for Bommel to start his Winter Championship campaign early...

Busy teaching
My diary has gone mad with so many new clients booking onto my clinics and I am loving every minute of it. The rewards in helping a combination to understand their horse so much better and then progress to getting the best out of them is fantastic to see. The cake tin is always on the side of the school and many clients joke that the cake is the attraction!

Good news and a day out.
A brief trip to Emile’s with Bommel proved exhausting for all concerned but receiving the result of my recent Pilates exam on the way home was fantastic news as I am now recognised as a level 3 matwork Pilates instructor, I struggle to contain my excitement!

Cooper Wilson
I am grateful to the amazing knowledge of a fascinating person, Cooper Wilson who has visited Sheepgate on a few occasions but the latest was amazing with clients seeing him and learning things about their horse that they could relate to but didn‘t know. The talents of this man are nothing short of mind-blowing. Any question or query you have about a horse, Cooper can tell you the answer, listing animal communicator, healer and Reiki master among his talents, and I have never met anyone quite like him. Simply amazing, read about him

Cooper kindly offered me a pony to try during his last visit, so Lily is very excited at the prospect of the next addition to the Sheepgate Pony Team, watch this space...

Mother's Day
Just another day with a busy show at Sheepgate, luckily I managed to escape early to cook tea for everyone. Josh did greet me early with a cup of tea, thank you Josh.

Indoor Final
After a manic week at work, Lily is doing the indoor final at Sheepgate and a seriously accurate test on Murphy managed to secure a win in the Intro Final and a placing on Deano. Well done Lily.

Equestrian Life Final
It was a treat to be at Sheepgate and not running the show for a change as Equestrian Life hired the facility for their dressage final. A fun day was had as Lily managed to win the Intro final on Deano with Murphy only one mark adrift, meanwhile longstanding client and friend Lynn Fry won the senior section. Well done Team Sheepgate!

HAG show
A hectic day marks the end of another busy week and Lily had decided she was competing with 2 ponies, so Tallulah did the in hand and Deano did the ridden and a good day was had by all except those that emailed their complaints to me...! It now seems to be the thought of by some that those that win shouldn’t keep winning but should be told to go elsewhere. I’m afraid that isn’t a consideration for us to start telling people they can’t come but little did I know when I created the have a go shows myself many years ago just how much they would have progressed. We had a good day anyway!!!

Some challenging times
Everyone around me will know how the current workload is taking its toll, feeding the yard early, doing my day’s work, before returning to the yard later to change rugs, give out the suppers and mark the end of another hectic day before returning home to force myself into the office to book a few more judges and write a few more schedules before a few more pages reading of my listed requirements before I attend my Equipilates course in May. Somewhere along the way I manage to feed the family who are then guaranteed at least ten minutes of my presence before I disappear off on my next task. I finally collapse into bed having done my pre bedtime routine of Pilates and stretching which I have to confess has become shortened over the last few weeks!
I have a great team of support around me and so many lovely clients who are so understanding and will often send me a text to tell me how they’re progressing and check that I’m okay, I am sincerely grateful to everyone to has helped me cope with the challenges I have faced recently. Things can only get better!!! Roll on April!

Lily's getting well practiced at pouring that much needed gin and tonic!!!
